Today we remember those who fell to acts of cowardice.
Today we’d like to thank the brave men and women who serve and protect. From from the front-lines of the battlefield to the officers in blue who patrol our streets. From the fire fighters to rescue crews who run in when everyone else is trying to get away.
Today, let’s make their jobs easier. Let’s put aside our petty differences. Let’s look beyond political parties, ethnicity, religious affiliation, age, and gender. Today let’s remember that we are all neighbors. Community is made up of us. Each one of us, acting individually to lift the burden of those around around us. To watch out for our neighbors, even if we have never met them.
Today let’s send a message that we shall not stand for cowardly acts of terror whether by bomb, by hijacking, or even simply robbery and theft. Today let’s stand up for our Rights and our Liberties.
Today let’s stand up to the bullies and take care of ourselves. Let’s stop relying on others to care for us, and instead look for ways that we can care for others.
Together we are strong.
United we honor the memories of those who fell.
… Then let’s all do the same thing tomorrow… and the day after… and the day after that.
